Position Summary

Manage the remunerations and benefits functions within the Group and all its subsidiaries. This includes the implementing and administrating of all the components involved to ensure accurate and timeously remunerating to all involved.

Key Accountabilities/ Principal Responsibilities

Develop remuneration and benefits strategies, tools and frameworks to achieve employee attraction, motivation and retention objectives

· Advise HR on remuneration practices and approaches for employees

· Ensure HR forms and tools are available for use and reviewed appropriately

· Ensure that compensation practices comply with current legislation

Own and implement remuneration and benefits processes

· Manage the monthly payroll cycle for the Company (input, submissions, checking)

· Manage and resolve queries raised in the payroll process

· Communicate and distribute benefit statements, updates, IRP5 and other relevant collateral

across the organization

· Own and run Remuneration and Benefits processes for revised and new benefits introductions

from Group

Manage Benefit Management & Control

· Responsible for the regular review of benefits and benefits providers and for ensuring that these

are cost effective and of value to the business

· Manage the relationships with all internal stakeholders

· Manage the relationship (including uploads and reporting) with external 3rd parties (Medical Aid,

Pension & Provident Fund Administrator)

· Ensure comprehensive annually revised changes to benefits are communicated and shared with

key stakeholders

Research and Report Generation

· Responsible for conducting regular benchmarking and remuneration research to ensure pay

philosophy is competitive and up-to-date with market changes

· Generate weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports for internal and external stakeholders

· Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly,

quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions

benefit deductions, employment equity, union membership, etc

Centre of Expertise

· Point of contact for all remuneration and benefits knowledge across the organization

· Owns the VIP interface for the Company

· Participates as a team member in strategic projects and initiatives

Payroll Management

· Manage the preparation and processing of Company monthly payroll and benefits across all

business units, ensuring timeous payment and adherence to all BCEA /LRA legislative

regulations and procedures

· Manage the process of Terminations, Retrenchments, Retirements, Disabilities and Deaths, and

other life cycle events of employees

· Conduct face-to-face one on ones with terminated and maternity employees

· Work closely with internal business partners to ensure that all Human Resource Administration

pertaining to the operations payroll is completed

· Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies

· Calculate values for unpaid sick leave

· Conduct Management analysis of Absenteeism, overtime & sick leave

· Ensure systems are set-up and updated to accurately reflect current employee headcount, for

the successful completion of monthly payroll processes across all business units

· Restructure remuneration packages of takeover company staff and customise the other party’s

remuneration and benefits packages to align with Company package according to legislative

requirements of LRA S197

· Prepare and present orientation workshops for S197 staff to sensitise and explain restructured

remuneration and benefit changes

· Manage and ensure all new start employee documentation is completed and processed on VIP

· Submit all medical aid and pension applications to the Medical Aid Brokers and relevant

Pension funds for processing and attend to all related queries.

· Manage all SARS, Pension Fund, SARPAC Provident fund, Medical Aid reconciliations and

related month end reports

· Ensure salary transfers (EFT) and approvals are processed on time.

· Implement and maintain all deadlines for month end capturing

· Manages annual increase and bonus preparations

· Maintains leave model, and ensure accuracy of leave and sick leave balances for staff by

utilizing ESS (Employee Self Service) and the process thereof

· Manage and responds to all payroll queries for management

· Avoid legal non-compliance challenges by keeping abreast of BCEA /LRA legislative

amendments relating to payroll and benefits, and ensure legal and statutory compliance

· Assists HR Head / HR Director with salary administration issues

· Partner with HR and Finance in aligning the payroll and benefits system

· Communicate effectively with Financial Director on all aspects relating to payroll

· Improve organizational effectiveness by emphasizing company benefits and perks

· Perform all payroll duties in the absence of the Remuneration & Benefits Officer

· Be able to assist with submission and reconciliation of the IRP5’s, Tax Mid-Year and Tax Year

End

· Managing the monthly reconciliation and payment of all third parties

· Liaise with Accounts on General Ledger queries & maintenance

Key Skills and Experience

· Minimum 6 year working experience in payroll environment

· Related payroll qualification

· Advanced working knowledge of VIP Premier and People 300

· Good understanding of and working knowledge of all the appropriate Acts (LRA, BCEA, OSHA,

COID, EEA)

· Highly computer literate with strong MS Office skills
